Holton Ahlers is an American football quarterback, best known for his standout college career at East Carolina University (ECU) from 2018 to 2022, where he started 50 of 55 games as a four-year starter and four-time team captain.[1] A Greenville, N.C., native, Ahlers began his football journey as a high school standout, earning team captain honors as a freshman, leading his squad to four playoff appearances and three conference titles before committing to ECU.[2] At ECU, Ahlers rewrote the record books, setting 10 school records, including six career American Athletic Conference marks for total plays (2,326), total offensive yards, completions, passing yards, pass attempts, and touchdowns.[1] He completed 1,095 of 1,823 passes (60 percent) for 13,927 yards and 97 touchdowns (76 in league play) with 37 interceptions, while rushing 469 times for 1,446 yards (3.1 yards per carry) and 25 scores—ranking second all-time among ECU quarterbacks in rushing yards.[1][5] His totals placed him seventh among all-time FBS leaders in total offense and 11th in passing yards.[1] Notable single-season highs included 3,708 passing yards (fourth on ECU's list) and six touchdown passes against South Florida in 2022.[1] He set Birmingham Bowl records and earned Manning Award QB of the Week honors in October 2022 after a 30-of-36 performance for 311 yards, one passing touchdown, and one rushing score in a 34-13 win over UCF, becoming ECU's all-time touchdown pass leader with 87.[3] Off the field, Ahlers co-founded Built When Broken, an inspirational Christian-based apparel company, in 2017 following the death of his best friend.[1] As of recent projections, he is part of the Seattle Seahawks' 90-man roster in the NFL, transitioning to professional football after surpassing 10,000 college passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards.[2][4][5]
